We have pooled our collective experiences on the 12 top reasons for suboptimal plant throughput and unexpected plant shutdowns, as seen from a control-system perspective. We refer to these as the Automation Dirty Dozen.

The objectives of the POV are to identify the underlying reason for the issues identified, and to explore possible remedies, either by optimizing the control system, or by introducing additional software solutions external to the control system.
